Thoughts as deep...
Opinions are, sometimes, great things to have. They move us into belief and seperate us from apathy. Where the river is wide and the current swirling and uncertain, there is little motion. Narrow the banks though, commit some trouble upon the water, and this is where not only is there motion there is notion.
Holding an opinion, while being good enough by itself to move the one who holds it, is not enough to move the many. The idea is to express it, to move someone, to give somebody an idea to think about, or maybe to simply bring up a little-thought-about point.
Stories can say a lot through its character interaction, and poetry brings up ideas through internal speculation. But, though they are powerful in their own strengths, they present a partial view of the whole.
Opinion writing helps fill-in that void. Found here: editorials, commentaries, essays -- observations. These are the more personal idea bearers. They express ideas a little more candidly; they all lend to the whole.
Take a little mental time, then, to think about some of the things our writers have to say. Consider where they come from. Respond to their ideas; we rely on feedback. If you have an opinion, consider sharing it. You're invited to the table.
Please consider.
